Havana was originally built by Port Douglas visionary John Morris in the 1980s and has been exquisitely renovated in 2024 by renowned Squillace Architects. The result is a high-end luxury holiday home with a relaxed yet refined aesthetic, featuring:
On the architectural renovation Squillace said "Set on a truly unique site and with its prime location, 15 Wharf St, Port Douglas under went an extensive renovation in 2024.
The brief was to create a relaxed Caribbean style home integrated in this unique tropical Australian setting with classic and timeless features to bring back the character and reflect the homes enviable waterfront location.Â
Squillace Architecture and Interiors creatively transformed the existing 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home into a spacious 5 bedroom, 4 full bathroom and 2 powder room home with 2 break out spaces, perfect for family entertaining and holidays.
New finishes, fixtures and fittings were selected internally and externally along with new furniture and styling to completely transform the home.
External works comprised of a light make over of the front façade respecting the classic 70s modern architectural form whilst modernising the building in alignment with the new interiors and stunning new glass sliding doors off the living room to open up the panoramic view. An entire new pool inclusive of a spa and shallow wading area was built, adjacent to the existing renovated entertaining pergola."
